'It's a relief' - Parents bring children under 5 to get 1st COVID shots at White Plains clinic

Dozens of parents brought their children under 5 years old to a Westchester health care facility so they could receive their first COVID-19 vaccine.
About 40 kids got their first Moderna dose to protect them against COVID-19 at Allied Physicians/Chester Pediatrics along Broadway In White Plains.
It was part of a clinic to administer COVID vaccines to a new age group that was recently given the green light by federal health agencies.
Earlier this month, the Food and Drug Administration gave emergency use authorization for both the Pfizer and Moderna COVID-19 vaccines for kids 6 months up to 5 years old.
Shortly after that, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommended parents to get their children vaccinated.
Westchester parents say they were relieved to be able to get their child vaccinated.
“It's kind of a relief that he finally got the shot because we've been waiting for many months. So, we can kind of resume normal life,” says parent Christina Chen, of Briarcliff Manor.
The families will return to the facility in a few weeks so their child can complete their vaccine series.
