The James Monroe Older Adult Center in Soundview hosted a Puerto Rican Christmas celebration Thursday.
The seniors enjoyed Asalto Navideño, a Puerto Rican tradition that blends classic Christmas sights and sounds with traditional Puerto Rican music, food and drinks.
The event featured a live Bomba y Plena orchestra, Quinto Zonò.
Employees at the senior center say the residents requested the Christmas party to bring joy, connection and cultural pride to their lives during the holiday season.
