A women?s shelter being built on Jerome Avenue in the Bronx has become a subject of debate among community members.
Some say the shelter will help women and families in need. Others fear it will raise the crime rate in the area. The shelter will be run by Care for the Homeless. The group is currently writing a memorandum of understanding that will help the relationship between the shelter and the community.
Construction on the shelter is expected to be finished in 2007.
