One Bronx couple with plans to wed this September claim a jewelry store closed up shop and kept their deposit.
Vincent Serieux and Lucia Roserie are all set to get married on Sept. 1, except they're now short a groom's wedding band. They say the store New Diamond District 2000 on East Fordham Road allowed them to purchase the ring on a layaway plan, but found the doors locked when they went for their most recent payment. Roserie says the owner, who seemed nice and trustworthy, still has $300 of her cash deposit. The owner did come through on her wedding ring, she says.
The Department of Consumer Affairs says the store doesn't have any previous complaints on file. If consumers file a complaint, department officials say they might be able to help through mediation.
