Pop star and “American Idol” winner Jordin Sparks stopped by the Madison Square Boys and Girls Club on Thursday to surprise the children.
In partnership with U.S. Cellular, Sparks helped present a $10,000 check. The money will go to clubhouses in the Bronx and Brooklyn.
"The amazing thing about it is being able to see that the focus is on these kids, providing a safe place for them to be, providing different things that they can do...just extracurricular activities to keep their minds occupied," said Sparks.
Four children from around the country were honored at the event. They were invited to the Joel E. Smilow Clubhouse in the Bronx, where they were recognized for the work they do in their communities.
