Stars flocked to the Kings Theatre in Brooklyn on Thursday for the inaugural Caribbean Music Awards for an evening of cultural pride and heritage.
Many stars took to the red carpet at the award ceremony, including Wyclef Jean. For many of these artists, they’re thankful to celebrate all of the contributions the islands have made to the music industry.
The award show had 26 different categories across a range of genres including reggae, dancehall, kompa and more. High honors were already in place for Machel Montano, who received a lifetime achievement award for his decades of music offerings and timeless hits.
Wyclef Jean hosted the prestigious night that has been months in the making, and Thursday night’s festivities are helping kick off the upcoming West Indian American Day Carnival taking place on Monday on Eastern Parkway.
