The historic Kingsbridge Armory is finally being transformed after decades of the site standing still.

The city’s Economic Development Corporation selected 8th Regiment Partners LLC, a collaboration between real estate firm Maddd Equities LLC and Joy Construction Corporation, to develop the space and turn it into a hub for the community.

The site will feature an events venue, sports fields and community spaces.

The redevelopment is expected to bring over $2.5 billion in economic impact over 30 years, creating thousands of construction jobs and hundreds of permanent positions.

Local businesses, like the New Capitol Diner, hope the project will boost foot traffic and revenue.

Sources close to the project tell News 12 construction is set to begin in 2027 and be complete by 2032.
