An artist from Kingsbridge is being recognized for her icy perspective on photography.
Elizabeth Guarracino is known for her abstract photography of ice.
“It comes from my refrigerator and that's what's so cool about it,” she says. “Every day I have something to shoot.”
Guarracino says she started shooting natural light falling upon ice after noticing the beauty of a chunk of ice that had fallen out of her refrigerator while living in Colorado with her dog.
“The way the light hit it, and the blue Colorado sky, it just blew me away,” she says.
The artist has since racked up close to 20,000 photos, a meaningful achievement, Guarracino says, given her revived passion for art that she had abandoned when she was a little girl.
Guarracino plays with the natural light to capture different perspectives of ice, using props around her home to create colorful reflections.
She says she has been so inspired by ice photography that she has decided to display the designs on her very own yoga pants line.
