Knife‑wielding man sought in Mott Haven cellphone robbery

According to police it all started after a verbal dispute between the man and a 21-year-old inside 260 Brook Ave. just before 6 a.m. on Feb. 5.

Police are searching for a man they say robbed a 21‑year‑old of his cellphone and displayed a knife during an incident in Mott Haven.

According to police, the encounter began with a verbal dispute inside 260 Brook Ave. just before 6 a.m. on Feb. 5. They say the man took the victim’s cellphone, and when the 21‑year‑old tried to retrieve it, the man pulled out a knife.

The suspect is now on the run. Investigators say he was last seen wearing a red jacket, a gray hooded sweatshirt, a black face mask and multicolored sneakers.

Anyone with information is urged to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1‑800‑577‑TIPS (8477).
