? The Lady Mustangs played Connecticut?s Gateway Community College in Utica in the first round of the junior college division III tournament Thursday.
Monroe?s Mustangs were on top in the beginning of the game, with star player Fantasia Goodwin scoring 31 points. The Mustangs set a record for the most points and assists ever in a national tournament game. Gateway never recovered.
The top-seeded Mustangs now take on the fifth-seeded Ridgewater College, of Minnesota, for a shot at the final four.
