A group of tenants again sought relief from the court system Monday in an ongoing dispute over repairs in their building, which is going through a foreclosure -- but their legal battle took another turn when their landlord died.
It marked at least the third time since 2013 that the tenants at 888 Grand Concourse Ave. asked a judge to appoint a receiver to both collect rent and ensure that the money went toward making repairs in the building.
But they say they left disappointed once again -- this time because their landlord, Louis Bombart, recently died. His lawyers asked the judge for more time to get his estate in order.
Meanwhile, repairs continue to go unaddressed in the building, tenants say. The latest complaint: Their elevator has been out of order since Friday.
