A Lehman College graduate has landed the music scholarship of a lifetime.
Mariah Escobar hails from Soundview and music has been a big part of her life since she was a child.
She started singing in church and at Lehman College.
The Soundview-native was working as a teacher after graduating from Lehman College in 2017 when she got the call of a lifetime.
The call was opportunity to receive a $20,000, one-year conservatory scholarship to the prestigious Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute in Manhattan.
"So literally this is believing in yourself and manifesting this. It just fell into my lap, I couldn't ask for anything bigger than this," says Escobar.
Escobar is now in her second semester at the institute.
She is also a recording artist and goes by the name of Mariah Eskoh. She can be found
