Lehman College student identified as victim of Twin Parks fire
A student of Lehman College has been identified as one of the victims of the tragic fire in Fordham Heights that killed 17 people on Sunday.
Sera Janneh, 27, was a sophomore at the school majoring in psychology, Lehman College announced Wednesday.
"Our deepest condolences to the Janneh family and all of those who have lost friends and loved ones in Sunday's fire," Lehman College said in a statement. "Our hearts are among those mourning in the Bronx today."
Several additional Lehman students list the site of the fire, the Twin Parks Tower on E. 181st Street, as their home address. The school is working to confirm that they are safe.
The college has posted a resource page with information on student emergency grants, and other resources available to those affected by the fire can be found online - along with a list of organizations accepting donations for families.
Students can also schedule virtual counseling services for students through Lehman's Counseling Center.
Authorities identified all 17 victims of the Twin Parks Fire Tuesday night, while the Office of the Medical Examiner announced that all victims died of smoke inhalation.
Elected officials are now discussing forming a fire safety task force and changes to the ways buildings in the city are inspected to prevent deadly fires in the future.
