Students at Lehman College are stepping up to help Puerto Ricans in need after Hurricane Maria devastated the island last year.
The students organized a concert at their school on Saturday.
Joshua Reyes, a senior at the college, has family in Puerto Rico. They remained safe throughout the storm, unlike many others.
Reyes is among several students who are taking a trip to Puerto Rico in April to help turn an abandoned school into a vibrant community center.
The effort is all made possible by the Lehman Life program, which provides service opportunities to students.
THE Bronx Puerto Rican Day Parade organization teamed up with the college to host the benefit concert that is raising funds for the students' trip.
The students hoping their community service will help bring life back to the Puerto Rican community.
