Authorities on Long Island today identified a woman long associated with the Gilgo Beach murders investigation as a veteran who was living in Brooklyn at the time of her 1997 death.

Tanya Denise Jackson, previously known as “Peaches”, was a U.S. Army veteran born in Alabama.

Jackson's remains were discovered stuffed into a container in a wooded part of Hempstead Lake State Park in June 1997.

DNA analysis conducted during the Gilgo investigation linked her to the remains of a female child found along Ocean Parkway near Cedar Beach in 2011. That child, Tatiana Marie Dykes, has been identified as Jackson’s daughter.
