News 12 Storm Watch Meteorologist Darryl Green says nice stretch of warmth and pleasant weather is expected to carry us through the weekend.
A high rip current risk is in effect through this evening. This will likely get extended through the next few days due to Franklin and Idalia.
  • Clouds clear out with lower humidity tonight. Lows in the 60s. 
  • Not as warm tomorrow with lower humidity and breezy conditions. Highs in the upper 70s.
  • It turns warmer and slightly humid Friday into next week.
  • TROPICAL UPDATE: Hurricane Franklin is currently bringing dangerous rip currents to our ocean facing beaches through this evening. Minor coastal flooding is possible tonight and tomorrow due to the full moon and high rip current risk. Rip current risk continues through Friday. Hurricane Franklin is expected to weaken as it moves further North in the Atlantic. 
  • Hurricane Idalia made landfall earlier this morning as a major cat 3 hurricane in Taylor County, FL. It is currently a Category 1 hurricane making its way to Georgia and the Carolinas later today. Idalia will weaken to a tropical storm as it moves offshore and brings us rough surf and dangerous rip currents through this weekend. Stay tuned for updates!
