The opening falls on the same day as the reopening of four of Broadway's iconic shows - Hamilton, The Lion King, Chicago and Wicked. Audience members must show proof of vaccination and wear masks.
New Yorkers News 12 spoke to say they are excited nonetheless.
"I love it and I'm so excited that not only New York City, but the world. We're coming back and we're coming together. Artists coming back and we're healing and it's great. It's so necessary and it's time," says Dandrea Crossle.
