A local doctor is reassuring worried parents that the decision to return to in-person learning next school year is based on scientific data and their children will be safe.
Dr. Kusum Viswanathan says medical experts looked at transmission rates between students and school staff and found transmission was lower than expected.
She says vaccinations have and will play a huge role in how schools move forward.
Mayor Bill de Blasio says students will still be required to wear masks, since we do not know when children under 12 will be eligible to get the vaccine.
