Local leaders were honored for their efforts to improve the Montefiore Medical Center Westchester Square Campus.
The facility's leaders received plaques of gratitude to signify a revitalization project two years in the making.
Westchester Square Civic Association President Lou Rocco says major improvements have positively impacted the community ever since Montefiore took over the aging medical facility located on Saint Raymonds Avenue.
Such improvements include a soundproof wall around generators and a pipeline to monitor the machine's exhaust, which previously were of concern to the community.
A pulmonary unit to conduct sleep studies was also recently opened at the location, and a brand-new, state-of-the-art radiology department is about to be completed.
Since Montefiore took over the health facility, it has hired over 200 employees and served over 30,000 patients.
