A center for poor Bronx children and families may be getting evicted sooner than expected.
Members of the Morrisania Multi-Service Center say the locks on the building were changed Monday. The center?s president believes the Department of Education changed the locks to eventually evict the group. Education officials say there are plans to move two existing high schools into the center?s building in September.
The center has day care, pre-school and homeless services for Bronx residents. The Department of Education says it is working with the center to help it find a new location. The center?s president says he will continue to work with elected officials to make sure the center finds a home.
