Scott Hanson, of Long Beach, says he knows he's lucky to be alive.

The former FDNY member suffered a massive heart attack, but didn't even realize it until seven days after first feeling fatigued.

He was examined at Mount Sinai South Nassau after feeling dizzy and experiencing chest pains.

They discovered a complete blockage on the right side of his heart, as well as the hole - a condition which doctors say has an over 50% mortality rate.

Doctors performed a 10-hour open heart surgery, and Scott went home this month.

He says he's looking forward to spending more time with his children and grandchildren.
