Long Island residents lined up at polling stations as early voting continued for a second day in New York.
A line formed outside the Nassau Board of Elections hours before the polls opened.
Voters say they saw large crowds at polling stations on Saturday, and that's what made them come out early Sunday.
"It's just really important to cast your ballot," says Barry Grant, of Oceanside. "Me and my mother were here yesterday and the line was down the block. So, we said…let's try again today, and get out here extra early."
Some Long Island voters reported shorter waiting times on Sunday. Still, many said they'd be willing to line up for as long as it could take to make sure their ballot is counted.
Suffolk Board of Elections Republican Commissioner Nick LaLota says votes will be tabulated as soon as the polls close on Election Night.
However, he says that doesn't necessarily mean the winners will be known right away.
"It's very unlikely that the Board of Elections will be able to call much of any races on election night," LaLota says.
He says it's because the board is expecting more than 200,000 thousand absentee ballots this year— about four times more than usual.
"On Long Island, there aren't so many really, really red, or really, really blue districts," LaLota says. "Maybe those will be the ones that get called on election night. But the rest of them, 80 or 90% of the rest of them, won't be able to be called until a week or two until after election day."
There are a total of 27 early voting locations on Long Island, including 15 in Nassau County and 12 in Suffolk County.
