A staple business around Yankee Stadium has stood the test of time for nearly a century. Yankee Tavern is a family owned bar that once served as a watering hole for Yankees icons like Babe Ruth, Mickey Mantle and Joe DiMaggio.
Owner Joe Bastone tells News 12 how even long before the pandemic, this iconic bar has fought to stay alive. While the bar survived the Prohibition Era, Yankee Tavern barely made it through the COVID-19 pandemic. Bastone says it cost him hundreds of thousands of dollars over the last two years to stay afloat.
Bastone adds Yankee Stadium is crucial to businesses and hopes fans will come enjoy some Bronx Bombers’ history at Yankee Tavern.
Bastone says they're the only bar in the area with a full food menu, so it's worth checking out.
