Imagine walking into your apartment only to find somebody else in your home who won’t leave? That's what one Bronx tenant said she’s been dealing with in Longwood.
Itesha Hairston is a hair stylist who says she’s lived at 900 East 167th St. since 2014. On March 30, 2025, while visiting a neighbor in another apartment, she heard loud banging coming from her own apartment. When she returned to her apartment, she allegedly came back to find Jarrell Coburn inside her home.
Hairston said she’s never seen the man before but that he refused to leave, claiming the apartment was his. The police told News 12 that Coburn was arrested and charged with criminal trespassing, criminal contempt and more. He was released on bail with non-monetary conditions, worrying Hairston that he will try to break into her apartment again.
Once inside the apartment, Hairston showed News 12 some of the conditions in need of repair, including mold, doors off the hinges, a clogged toilet and a broken stove. The building also has dozens of violations from HPD. Management company, Omega Properties, could not be reached at the time of News 12's initial broadcast.
As for the alleged burglar, he is due back in court on May 1. News 12 reached out to his lawyer for comment, but has not heard back.
