A construction project will be causing slower than usual traffic on the Major Deegan Expressway for the next 10 days.
The city's Department of Transportation has shut down the 149th Street exit in order to construct the ramp's new deck.
The closure went into effect at 1 a.m. Wednesday. It will continue through 5 a.m. next Friday.
As an alternative, drivers can use exit 3 and head north on Exterior Street, or at exit 5 by the Macombs Dam Bridge.
The construction is part of the DOT's plan to rehabilitate the Major Deegan from East 138th Street up to the Macombs Dam Bridge.
