Major improvements are coming soon to parks and playgrounds throughout the borough as part of a multimillion-dollar initiative.
Parks Department officials say it has been 17 years since some of the borough's parks have been upgraded, including the Hunts Point Playground at Hunts Point and Spofford avenues.
The Hunts Point park is expected to be completely redesigned and rebuilt. Some improvements include new plants, equipment and the inclusion of an on-site safety coordinator.
Eight other Bronx playgrounds will receive the complete makeover. Sixteen parks have already been spruced up as part of an initiative launched last year.
The Parks Department says construction is expected to be finished in 2017.
