New York City gave people of all ages a reason to dance on Wednesday, as Make Music New York Day kicked off for the start of summer.
Performances across the Bronx and Brooklyn took place for the summer solstice. The afternoon in the Bronx started with the smooth sounds of Tony Smith, who’s been playing saxophone for 45 years.
“Getting people to come out and play music for everyone is easy...it’s just music all day that people can enjoy in our neighborhood here in the Bronx on 161st street… music is a part of people's lives,” said Smith.
Smith was joined by members of the Bindlestiff Family Circus, who were out there giving kids plenty of reasons to smile.
The 161st Street Business Improvement District says it will be kicking off events throughout July and August.
