A 20-year-old man is facing several charges after being accused of raping a 12-year-old girl at gunpoint last month. 

Authorities say Malcolm Lugo grabbed the girl on Weeks Avenue near East 173rd Street, covered her mouth and held a gun to her head while he sexually assaulted her. 

Police say a surveillance video helped in their search for a suspect. 

Lugo was found in Springfield, Massachusetts, in the home of Kandejah Pink, who is running for City Council there. Sources say this is the first time she has housed a sex assault suspect, but she is not facing any charges. 

Lugo told reporters he "didn't run" when he was asked why he was found in Massachusetts.
