An Oyster Bay man is facing DWI charges following a two-vehicle crash on the Long Island Expressway at Exit 57 in Hauppauge Wednesday.
Police say Joseph Savasta was driving drunk when he hit a tow truck. The truck went off the road and into the woods.
The driver of the tow truck, 37-year-old Christopher Francis, of Medford, was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital where he is listed in critical condition.
The crash closed part of the LIE for hours during the morning commute.
Savasta is due in court Thursday.
