Authorities identify man who died after falling into Stamford Harbor

Police say around 3 p.m. Sunday, the adult male fell from the boat while tying off his mooring in the harbor.

The man who died after falling out of his boat in Stamford Harbor on Sunday afternoon has been identified as 67‑year‑old Frederick Bannerot of Norwalk, according to DEEP.

Police say around 3 p.m., Bannerot fell from the boat while tying off his mooring in the harbor. He was rescued from the water, and emergency personnel performed life‑saving efforts while he was transported to the hospital, but he later died.

DEEP Environmental Conservation Police, Stamford police and the Stamford Fire Department were all involved in the rescue. The State Medical Examiner is determining the cause of death, and EnCon police are investigating. There is no apparent criminal aspect at this time, according to officials.
