The Bronx man jailed for two years after being falsely charged in a deadly stabbing is now filing a lawsuit against New York City.
Enger Javier did the time in Rikers in connection with the deadly stabbing of Hansell Arias in 2012. After that, he also spent a year strapped with an ankle bracelet and kept under house arrest.
As News 12 has previously reported, prosecutors dropped the case after reviewing recently released surveillance video of the incident.
"Money is not going to give me the time that I lost in there," Enger says. "I missed out on two years of my life...a lot of birthdays, family members that died, you know, all that stuff."
The Bronx District Attorney's Office declined to comment on the civil suit.
