Man fatally shot by police after allegedly being involved in Coney Island domestic dispute

Two women approached officers, according to officials, and warned them about a man who opened fire just a block away.

Police believe that a fatal officer-involved shooting in Brooklyn late Thursday could be the result of a domestic violence dispute.
According to police, officers were patrolling near 36th Street and Neptune Avenue in Coney Island around 10 p.m. when they heard gunshots.
Two women approached officers, according to officials, and warned them about a man who opened fire just a block away.
Officials said at least two 911 calls were made simultaneously, and three units were dispatched to the scene. It was there where a man was allegedly found with a gun in hand and began firing at officers.
Police said at least four officers returned fire, and the man was fatally shot. They say a firearm was recovered at the scene.
According to police, it’s believed that this started as a domestic violence situation, and the two women could be victims.
