A man was struck and killed after being hit by multiple cars while walking across the Cross Bronx Expressway, according to officials.
Police say they responded to a 911 call just before 3 a.m. today about a pedestrian struck near Rosedale Avenue.
When officers arrived, they found a man unconscious in the road with severe injuries to his body near the southbound Exit 5A ramp. Police say the victim was struck and then hit multiple times by a few different vehicles. EMS crews pronounced him deceased at the scene.
Police tell News 12 two drivers were arrested at the scene, a 47-year-old woman from Brooklyn and a 24-year-old Bronx man, for driving with suspended licenses. However, it's unknown if they were involved in the accident.
The NYPD's Highway Collision Investigation Squad is investigating.
Police have identified the victim, but they are not releasing his name publicly until his family has been notified.
