Man fatally struck by car on Major Deegan Expressway in Van Cortlandt Park

The 30-year-old man was walking on the expressway near West 233rd Street just after 1:30 p.m. Wednesday when he was hit by a 2011 Jeep.

Police say a 30-year-old man was struck and killed by a car on the Major Deegan Expressway in Van Cortlandt Park.

The man was walking on the expressway near West 233rd Street just after 1:30 p.m. Wednesday when he was hit by a 2011 Jeep.

Authorities say the man suffered severe trauma throughout his body. EMS took him to St. Barnabas Hospital, where he died.

The 42-year-old man driving the Jeep remained at the scene of the crash, according to police.
