A man was found dead and buried in the snow Monday at a 55‑and‑older complex in Deer Park.

Police say the body was discovered just before 4 p.m. on Parkcenter Drive. A worker contracted to shovel the complex told News 12 he saw the body.

Police have not identified the person and would only confirm that the victim is male. Neighbors say they believe they know who he is and that he lives in the complex near where he was found.

As residents processed the death, they were also dealing with large amounts of unplowed snow. In some parts of the complex Tuesday, snow was nearly waist‑high.

Frank Daconta, 62, said he struggled to get to and from his home. Other residents said the unshoveled and unplowed snow created safety concerns, with some reporting that snow was blocking their front doors.

“A man, he’s literally trapped — he’s in a wheelchair and the snow is about 5 feet in front of his door. Five feet high,” Daconta said.

Resident Eddie Velasquez was also unable to open his door. “I can’t even squeeze through here,” he said.

News 12 has reached out to the property manager for comment on the body found and the safety concerns regarding snow removal and is waiting to hear back.
