A man hung himself inside a Brooklyn precinct holding cell hours after being accused of driving under the influence, according to family members.
The 28-year-old man was arrested Sunday after police say they responded to a car accident in front of 9011 Avenue J around 12:45 p.m.
Police say the man was intoxicated, and they transported him to the Intoxicated Driver Testing Unit at the 78th Precinct.
Police say after testing the man, he was transported to the 69th Precinct station for booking.
Around 5:30 p.m., police say they discovered the man unconscious and unresponsive inside his cell area.
Family members tell News 12 the man had recieved driving violations in the past for drivingwhile under the influence. 
He was transported to Brooklyn Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The man's identity and exact cause of death have not yet been released.
