An unidentified suspect shot a Fordham man in the neck on Creston Avenue near Fordham Road Wednesday while the victim was trying to be a good Samaritan, police say.
The man witnessed a hit-and-run driver smash into a parked car near the intersection and attempt to flee, according to police.
The 31-year-old witness attempted to stop the driver from leaving and ended up with a bullet wound in his neck. Police say he was taken immediately to St. Barnabas Hospital, where he is expected to be OK.
Police say the suspect is a black male who was driving a red SUV.
The woman who owns the parked car says she feels horrible for what happened to the man.
She says she had come to the area to shop on Fordham Road and returned to find her car smashed up.
