Mariano Rivera teaches students about fire safety
Yankees great Mariano Rivera taught children at P.S. 63 about fire safety during a visit to the school Monday.
Rivera spoke to children about the dangers of fire and how to survive, avoid, escape or prevent an encounter with fire.
Educators say it’s important for children to learn of the dangers of fire at an early age and that it was a pleasure having Rivera speak about it because the children look up to him.
The school district says it will also receive a $20,000 donation for continuing to promote fire safety and education from The Hartford group, which is celebrating the 70th anniversary of the Junior Fire Marshal program.
