Massive 2-alarm fire engulfs 5-story Bronx building

A two-alarm fire caused significant damage and left South Bronx families displaced on Tuesday.

A two-alarm fire caused significant damage and left South Bronx families displaced on Tuesday. 
Flames and smoke poured out of three windows on the fourth floor of 528 E. 142 St. and engulfed a portion of the five-story building. 
Neighbors tell News 12 the fire spread quickly to at least three apartments within the building. 
Firefighters say they arrived at the scene around noon and began to rapidly battle the fire both from the inside and outside. 
The American Red Cross assisted neighbors to make sure everyone will have a safe place to stay Tuesday night. 
Fire officials tell News 12 the cause of the fire is currently under investigation at this time.
