Mayor Adams: Backlogs of cash assistance and SNAP applications nearly cleared

Adams says the backlog of cases for both peaked at over 50,000 applications last summer.

Mayor Eric Adams announced that his administration has nearly cleared the backlogs of cash assistance and Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program applications.
Adams says the backlog of cases for both peaked at over 50,000 applications last summer.
Investments in staffing, technology and process improvements have helped their efforts to clear the backlogs.
Officials say 97% of cash assistance applications and 90% of SNAP applications are now eliminated.
