Getting around New York City may soon be even faster for commuters, at least that's the MTA's plan.

Mayor Eric Adams and MTA Chair Janno Lieber sat down Thursday to discuss how mass transit service can improve overall.

Part of the plan calls for over 150 miles of bus lanes to be added over the next four years, with 20 of those miles to be added this year.

Technology is going to play a big part as well. This will help enforce bus lanes and transit signals and more bus lane cameras.

The MTA says they plan on investing $200 million to expand countdown clocks and upgrade the public announcement system in over 70 subway stations citywide.

Commuters say the project is a long-time coming.

"It is such a good topic, I wish someone did it before. I hope he is serious. We need help. To get the bus, you have to wait so long, even in the rain, thunder, lightning... you will be waiting for the bus," said commuter Zeneb Jordan.

The city says better bus service overall will help riders have faster commutes and the collaboration means more access to jobs and greater economic opportunity.
