Mayor Eric Adams announced Monday that businessman and philanthropist Robert Tucker will be the FDNY's new commissioner.
Fire officials say Rucker is the CEO of a private security company and has served as a longstanding Board of Directors member for the FDNY Foundation.
Tucker took his oath at the fire academy on Randall's Island. Tucker says public safety has been part of his life's work and that this appointment is the biggest honor of his life.
Tucker follows the previous fire commissioner Laura Kavanagh, who was the first female commissioner for the FDNY appointed in 2022.
