New York City has taken another step forward in protecting women's reproductive rights today.
Mayor Eric Adams signed six bills into law to ensure abortion access to all, nearly two months after the Supreme Court decision to overturn Roe v. Wade. Since then, the city has been on the forefront in making sure that women have access to safe and legal abortion options.
The New York City Abortion Act houses six bills that include prohibiting the use of city resources to enforce abortion restrictions. It also provides protection for people and providers accessing abortion care and requires the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene to report annual births and abortions as well as offer free abortion pills.
These bills were sponsored by the New York City Council's Women's Caucus. For more information on access and resources for abortions in the city, click here.
