Mayor Bill de Blasio cast his early vote alongside Park Slope residents Tuesday.
Residents outside the Park Slope Armory YMCA kept their distance and masks on. De Blasio told News 12 that first lady Chirlane McCray is voting absentee, while he decided to come vote in person, early.
He also had some harsh words for the Board of Elections - saying we need to think very hard about how to improve the system for upcoming elections.
"Most city agencies have to produce every day of the year; they have to pick up trash and things like that. Board of Elections has to do something a few days a year right, and they failed to do that. It’s not about who is on the board, it’s the whole thing. It’s all broken, it's been broken a long time,” said de Blasio.
The BOE announced that it has decided to extend early voting hours this weekend.
Friday and Saturday polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
