Mayor Bill de Blasio said Tuesday in a news conference that this week is another week to reset and prepare by keeping COVID-19 numbers down in “hot spot” neighborhoods.

Tuesday marks day four of the pause in the COVID cluster red zone areas.

The mayor stated they're seeing a good turnaround but is urging people who live in those neighborhoods to get tested.

Mayor de Blasio mentioned this week is crucial and that they're focusing on outreach, education and working with community leaders to continue to see those numbers go down.

Businesses in those areas were also forced to close. The commissioner of small businesses says resources are available for business owners in need of assistance.

When it comes to schools, the mayor said 56 schools have participated in random testing and that of the 1,751 tests done one came back positive. He's encouraging parents to fill out the consent form that would allow children to get tested at school. Those results will then be sent to the student’s home.

By the end of this week, the mayor says he hopes to have a clear sense of whether they can relax on the restrictions.
