Mayor Bill de Blasio received the Johnson & Johnson vaccine from Health Commissioner Dr. Dave Chokshi during his
COVID-19 briefing Thursday morning at City Hall.
The mayor said he wanted to be an example for other New Yorkers and show his trust in the vaccine.
"I have total faith in the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, that's why it is in my arm. I totally believe this is a safe way to protect ourselves," he said.
The mayor also said the Johnson & Johnson vaccine is easier for city health care facilities to store.
