Mayor Bill de Blasio and City Councilman Andy King held a town hall meeting Monday at the Academy for Scholarship and Entrepreneurship.
The mayor took questions about working with the MTA regarding fare increases, police-community relations, public housing and education reform.
He also addressed his recent meeting with President-elect Donald Trump and how he discussed with him the importance of not using police officers in the Bronx as deportation officers.
The mayor cited the large amount of both documented and undocumented immigrants in the borough and Trump's hardline stance on immigration.
He added that any mass deportations would only make it more difficult to police neighborhoods, saying that people would be less likely to report crimes if they feared deportation.
