Bridgeport Mayor Joe Ganim declared a snow emergency for the city, implementing a parking ban starting at 6 p.m. on Saturday.
Director of Emergency Management and Homeland Security Scott Appleby met with 911 emergency dispatchers and the city's Public Facilities and Roadway Maintenance crews to map out a plan to deal with the expected storm.
"There still seems to be a little bit of uncertainty as to the exact snowfall rates that we will experience here in the City of Bridgeport. We are preparing ourselves for that 3 to 6-inch snowfall range," said Appleby.
News 12 meteorologists say the weather is supposed to bring between 2 to 5 inches of wet heavy snow mix.
"We want you to charge all your devices. Make sure, God forbid, if we experience any type of power outage, you still have an ability to reach us by 911," said Scott Appleby.
Officials say people with garages should park their vehicles in it so the city can prepare and plow wherever possible.
Ronald Lupica, from the City of Bridgeport Public Facilities, says the snowplows and trucks are ready for the storm.
"Over 56 vehicles ready to go out, take care of the streets, keep them clean," said Lupica.
Officials said residents should be aware there is no parking on snow emergency routes.
"We're preparing for the worst but we're hoping for the best," said Appleby.
