Mayor Bill de Blasio says the city is planning to increase the number of
vaccines administered, saying the plan is to give out 175,000 doses by the end
of the week.
This number has
increased as members of group 1B are now allowed to be vaccinated, including anyone over the age of 75,
teachers and education workers, first responders, public safety workers and
public transit workers.
The first 24/7 mega
vaccine sites opened in the Bronx and Brooklyn with more scheduled to open in
the coming days.
One is set to open in
Manhattan on Tuesday, one
in Staten Island Wednesday and one
in Queens Saturday.
The mayor says it’s important for everyone to
make an appointment before going to vaccine sites.
People can make their
appointment online atnyc.gov/vaccinefinder or calling 877-VAX-4NYC.
