Rain did not damper the graffiti cleanup efforts at the Woodlawn Cemetery on East 233rd Street and Webster Avenue on Thursday.
City Council Member Eric Dinowitz (D - District 11) says his office has received numerous complaints regarding the area.
“We get a lot of complaints from community members about the quality, their quality of life,” says Dinowitz.
The operation is a collaborative effort between the mayor’s office, local leaders and the 47th Precinct's youth coordinator officer.
“We're glad to be working with the mayor's office, the police precinct and Officer Reyes in cleaning up our neighborhood and removing this graffiti during the year,” says Dinowitz.
Woodlawn Cemetery President Edward Markiewicz praised the cleanup efforts.
“I'm very glad to see this cooperative effort to beautify the cemetery,” says Markiewicz. “It's a great thing.”
